Terms of use
Updated September 24, 2026
These terms cover your use of Backline at backlineclose.com. By signing in you agree to them.
The service
Backline takes the reports a store uploads and works out its pay-period close: sales and payroll journals, vendor bills, labor figures and checks. When a store's owner connects QuickBooks Online, Backline posts that close to the store's QuickBooks company and reads it back to check it.
Your books stay yours
You own your store's data. You give Backline permission to store it and to use it to run your close, including posting to the QuickBooks company you connect. You can disconnect QuickBooks at any time from Settings or from inside QuickBooks.
You check the numbers
Backline shows what it posts and why, and flags what it can't match. It doesn't replace your accountant. You remain responsible for your books, your tax filings and your payroll, and for checking what Backline posts on your behalf.
Access
Keep your sign-in to yourself. A store's owner decides who can open the store and what they can do. Don't use Backline to get into data you haven't been given.
Availability and changes
We work to keep Backline running and correct, but it's provided as is, without warranties. We aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability is limited to what you paid for Backline in the three months before the claim. We may change Backline or these terms; we'll post the date of any change here.
Ending
You can stop using Backline at any time. We may suspend an account that misuses the service. Ask through the request form on the home page to have your store's data deleted.
Privacy
How Backline handles data is in the privacy page.
